Question by docjtr1: what is teh best expresso maker for home use?
I am considering buying an expresso maker designed for capsuled coffee portions as I find the idea very convenient. I have read through some web sites and they recomend gaggia brand as teh best.

Outstanding Espesso,
Illy really got it right. I have tried the E.S.E pods from Illy and others. The taste of the IperEspresso Capsules is superior. The Creama is outstanding. I also have a Jura Z5 super automatic and it can’t match the taste of IperEspresso even using Illy whole beans. The Illy IperEspresso machines are very simple to use and to clean. The downside is the capsules are expensive, about 75 cents a shot compared to 50 cent a shot from the super-automatic. But, using the Amazon’s new subscription service the cost has dropped to about 63 cent a shot. If you like the taste of Illy coffee this is one of the best ways to enjoy it.

|Fantastico caffe’ and delivery!,
Finally I can have my Italian espresso at home for the same price I would pay in an Italian bar!
Illy iperEspresso Capsules(medium roast – my choice), brewed in a FrancisFrancis machine, is creamy and flavorful.
Buonissimo!
In Los Angeles, the first delivery came the day after purchase; the second, two days in advance!
I love it!

|The Best Espresso,
If you like a “long-pull” espresso, i.e., somewhat more than a double, then this is the espresso for you — none better anywhere. And with the iPerEspresso Coffee Maker, you just can’t make a better cup of espresso, whether decaf, dark roast, or medium roast.

|Personal Preference – Go for the Dark Roast,
If you are fan of the Illy IperEspresso medium roast, then you’ll probably enjoy the Lungo. I’m a huge fan of the dark roast capsule (see my other reviews), but the Lungo didn’t suit my taste buds. I found it comparable to a strong cup of Colombian roast arabica. And, I prefer my espresso to taste, well, like espresso.
I tried the Lungo because I wanted a longer pour. I get every last drop out of the dark roast capsules, probably waiting too long to stop the brewing cycle. The two ounces of espresso-magic-in-my-mouth always ends too soon, and I’m left wanting more. I thought a larger cup of espresso would be the answer, but this didn’t do it for me. If I want coffee, I’ll use my coffee press.
I still gave this product 4 stars because, although it isn’t for me, the Lungo still produces an exceptional cup of espresso. I just wish they used dark roast instead of medium.
As a side note – the size/design of this capsule looks the same as the other roasts, yet it seems to allow steam to travel through the pod faster. When I brew my dark roast, it usually takes about 30 – 40 seconds to get two ounces of espresso. The first time I used the Lungo I turned my back for 20 seconds and my illy cappuccino cup (5 ounces) was overflowing. So, yeah – pay attention!

|Excellent value for price,
These seemed to be the most consistent pods. I tried a sampler pack before of many different brands and the Illy and Lavazza pods had the most consistent least bitter taste. Lavazza pods have nice creme. The water flows faster compared to the Illy pods so need to run the expresso machine for a little less time. The Illy pods are probably a little better quality – but at twice the price are not worth the additional investment. I would strongly recommend these. And the shipper was on time and the goods packed well. They do come loose so you will need a container to store them (unlike the illy pods that are boxed)

|Smooth taste, best ESE pods we’ve tried,
We’ve had a Francis! Francis! X3 Espresso machine for well over a year now, and have gone through about a thousand ESE pods. We’ve tried hundreds of Illy, Espressione Arabica, and Espressione Classic pods, but these Lavazza pods are the best so far. The taste is consistently smooth, without the varying levels of bitterness we tasted in the other pods. We ordered 150 Lavazza pods about a month ago and I’m about to put in our next order. This is definitely the fastest we’ve ever gone through an order of 150 pods.
