I’m Heartsick!,
 Â
I’ve had my DeLonghi Esclusivo coffeemaker for exactly 3 months. It brewed the best tasting coffee I’ve ever had. It was my favorite coffee maker by far for the following reasons: Coffee is delicious -slow brewing permits a more robust coffee. Small footprint on my counter. Stylish design. VERY easy to program and use. Large opening through which to pour water. Charcoal filter to purify water. Automatic shut off. Caraffe has large opening for easy cleaning. NON-DRIP POURING!! I was in heaven with this coffeemaker and knew I’d found the perfect one. (I’ve had many in my lifetime.)
Unfortunately, two days ago, the plastic surrounding the hot plate began to melt. The vendor from whom I purchased it has already refunded my money and has asked me to return it. I will NOT purchase another one for fear of fire hazard. This coffeemaker would have received 10 stars from me had it not begun to melt itself to death. For this reason, I’m heartsick…..it WAS the perfect coffeemaker.

|What is not to like?,
 Â
Easy to use, attractive design, makes aromatic hot coffee. I like the aroma function that brews the coffee slower and uses the “shower head method” to better soak the coffee grounds while brewing. As long as the machine doesn’t break down, the 5 stars will remain. Silly me, I thought maybe was made in Italy, but no, made is China. I bought this because of good price, free shipping and attractive design. It has more pluses than that. It is a good buy!

|not bad,
The coffee maker is very good , it takes a few pots to learn how to make the coffee right. I like it but if i was in a rush, i would hate it.The two issues i have that are negative are ,the pot itself leaks when you pour.it leaks with only hot fluids. I tested it with cold water , it did not leak. With hot water, it leaks were the glass meets the plastic rim. The second, it takes a while to make the coffee.other than that , it works just fine….

|Don’t waste your money,
Bought this item, and noticed that it never shut down. Even if I turned it off, the unit was still warm, and the warming place …hot!
When I would start to make coffee in the a.m., and lifted the cover, hot steam would pour out into my face. I contacted the company, the customer service literally took 3 weeks to tell me I was “eligible for a replacement”! Like I waited 3 weeks to not have a coffeemaker, I could have faced a fire hazard here, folks. Told them to just send me the $$$ I paid for it, and I’ll forget this ever happened. Actually, I’m not because I just wrote a review about them.

|Best Cuisinart coffee maker ever.,
 Â
This is a replacement for my old Cuisinart coffee maker which I had for about six years or so (the predecessor to this model). I loved my old one even with some of the little quirks it had. It beat out any Braun or Krupp pot which I had ever owned. This new updated model is a winner. All of the small annoyances have been solved, such as the small fill tank opening, the dripping cover that leaked back into the fill tank, and finally, thank you Cuisinart people, a water level guide on the outside of the unit. The front knobs on the front are now also easier to see and use. As my other Cuisinart did, it brews superior coffee and quickly. I find it takes about one minute per cup… 12 minutes for twelve cups, not bad at all. Yes, the unit does make some clicking and popping noises when it is new, so did my old one. But that goes away in time as the unit gets “broken in”. I do not think you can find a better coffee maker on the market.

|My new BEST friend!,
 Â
 Â
Who in the world would have a coffee pot as a best friend? When you make and drink 5 to 7 pots of coffee a day you need a best friend. You need a friend who is there for you anytime you need one and that friend has to be consistent; i.e., one good pot after another. The DCC-2600 is my new best friend. In a short time it has performed better than its older cousin, the DCC-1200. The DCC-122 is still right up there with the DCC-2600; however, I wanted a 14 cupper and it is perfect.
The coffee tastes the same: great. It still takes about one minute per cup. That is perhaps a tad too much time but I don’t care. I can always do something else while it is brewing. After all, a super cup of coffee is worth waiting a few minutes. I can always set the timer and have it ready when I awaken. The setting process is still simple enough for me to do. I really like being able to see the plain water display on the outside instead of having to strain and look over the top of the pot. That’s a nice enhancement just as it the anti-drip change Cuisinart made.
I’m not an interior designer; however, I like the changes made to the outside appearances of this pot compared to the DCC-1200. I just looks better to me. The included gold filter is a nice touch and its inclusion should be a constant; however, I still prefer the cheap, paper filters. Paper filters are easier to clean up from than the gold filter. That is the only reason for my statement.
Best friends do not let you down and this pot pumps coffee without one retort. It works well and performs the job with vigor.

|Great little coffeemaker,
Some have commented in their reviews that the coffeepot drips, that the pot itself is difficult to remove and replace into its alcove, or that the coffeemaker spontaneously turns on. I value the consumer reviews posted here and usually heed them, but I loved the look of this coffeemaker so much and could find no other brands to match the styling and features of the KM1000 that I decided to risk it and order. So far, I have experienced none of these problems, and have been very happy with my purchase. The Krups KM1000 is a great little coffeemaker that not only makes a great-tasting, piping hot cup of coffee but looks good while doing it. Programming is easy and the price is right. My only fault with Krups is that not even a sample pack of cone filters was included with the coffeemaker as a courtesy, so be prepared with size 4 cone filters if you want to start brewing out of the box.

|Good News & “Challenges”,
 Â
Six months ago, my wife and I were at Macy’s at the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California looking to replace our 20 year old Braun coffee maker. Knowing of the Krups reputation and seeing a cool, blue, round, “digitized” analog clock on the demo unit, impulse buying got the better of us. Programming and using the KM-1000 was an intuitively obvious dream. The first pot – and six months of pots – of various Trader Joe’s coffees have been wonderful…after we figured out that to return the carafe to the unit, you have to tilt the carafe backwards slightly to reduce the contact angle of the carafe lid and the filter basket.
But…after about 3 months, what looked like a calcium deposit began to form on the surface of the heating plate. No biggie. However, when it got bigger and bigger, closer examination revealed that the dark brown coating was coming off exposing the base metal underneath. The tech folks at Krups had never had any calls about it nor had the folks at California Electric which is one of the Krups factory authorized service centers. Fortunately, Macy’s has a 180-day return policy so this afternoon it was returned.
Bottom line: Because the KM-1000 makes superb coffee, is a joy to use, and looks good just sitting on the counter top (the water reservoir looks like a translucent, semi-circular fish tank), I only hope that the coating problem was an isolated incident. Although you never see the coating failure unless you remove the carafe, if you’re a perfectionist like me…
UPDATE: The replacement unit is vastly superior! Krups has totally redesigned the carafe. The pouring spout is much larger and now wedge-shaped making the dripping problem when pouring (I didn’t mention that earlier) a thing of the past. Also, either the carafe lid and/or the filter holder has been redesigned such that I no longer have to tilt the carafe to return it to the heading pad. A call to Krups confirmed the redesign. With all new products, employees also test the unit and their comments are noted. However, it’s only when customers call in with the same complaints/observations, that manufacturing changes are made. It looks like Krups actually listens to its customers. I would now give the unit a 5-Star rating.
